Aurtel may clip a big chink off the IBM deal: Outsourcing to third parties may look attractive financially ab-initio but only a discerning service provider would understand that it can never be win win for both the parties. The service providers of India should understand that they stand to lose more than what they appear to gain prima facie.Further the service provider loses the cutting edge & often finds itself not being in a position to leverage at the right time with network opportunities.regards m.viswanathan

RJio to share RCom;s fiber intra-city too.: It is a good idea to share fiber & infrastructure. But before that one should assess its(Fiber) quality-loss in dB per km ,its reach with reference to business plans & lastly its maintainability. I am afraid whether any due diligence in this regard have been done by RJio.Unless a very rigorous exercise is carried out ,this would remain as a News without altering any thing on the ground which means that RJio has to do the same runnung as originally planned. If this is simply part of the hype, which I think it is,the flashing of mere news would suffice.Fiber to the customer is one of the requirement-which none of the Service providers has done anything worth the neme. Hence to look for for sharing of intracity fiber of any service provider for 4G with current fiber availability is a non-starter. Regards,M.Viswanathan

Monetising the assets & navigating PSUs to pristine glory as niche service provider -pan INdia: For monetising the assets, the top brass should not only to have vision keeping the big picture of the PSUs(MTNL & BSNL)but also should possess enough courage, conviction, fierce integrity & a very high order of intellectual honesty & unfailing enthusiasm to sail towards to the goals which like oasis of desert would be moving farther & farther. The journey may be arduous ,frustrating but should be endured as end objective is great. No private service provider can make telecom as a sustained telecom player.Home grown talent & their loyalty is a must .Attrition rate should be low.One of the requirement is to offer Salary & perks in line with private peers. Lateral entry at middle levels to be avioded as a policy matter. Three dicta of bureaucracy should be allowed -Anoymity,Continuity & Neutrality.Should not be allowed to suffer from vagaries of approvalfrom ministries& Ministers,PMOs office,& PM. Only in principle approval should be insisted.Total empowerment is the need of the hour.Non-interference from other ministries & ministers would be a definite requirement,The above policy should be followed in letter & spirit. Network Infrastructure Suppliers can be crucial to Telco "Business Transformation": There is a renewed excitement in Indian Telecom market after the recent auctions of Spectrum.People are looking forward to the growth in the revenues and employment in the sector. However there are some serious underpinnings existing for long time: Big debts on banks books,NPA possibility,3G not having a proper traction and revenues mainly from one vertical of cellular. For vendors like NSN,the road ahead will be thru "Business Transformation" deals through their network elements and innovative services.Vishnu Goel T&M +919810101238

Anupam Shrivastava:- Director Consumer Mobility: MTNL has ducts & access OF & Copper cables in Delhi & Mumbai which can not be matched by any service provider,In addition,MTNL has Numerous exchange & transmission locations which provide opportunity for colocation facility for other service providers .Leasing of Bandwidth instead of leasing out fibers & ducts would be the best policy,Under no circumstances, they should bow to the pressure of leasing out dark fibers & dark ducts.Likewise MTNL can provide colocation facility with other service providers in all tower location & fiber terminated locations .These would provide much needed funds & would lead MTNL for making available funds for creation of capacity for mobile customers.Likewise BSNL can lease their bandwidth without leasing dark fibers & dark ducts.Further BSNL can provide colocation on the existing towers & fiber terminated locations. The need of the hour is to mobilise capital for borrowing from Central Govt to go ahead with capacity expansion needed for the capacity required.Best of Luck Shri Anupam Shrivastav. Regards,M.Viswanathan.

Telecom professional: A great vision which can really initiate the turnaround the company but may not be enough. The digitalisation and monetisation of Copper network ( 20M) can also be leveraged and also the Next generation, access network, based on FTTH needs to be exploited. A separate Focused Group with clear mandate for turnaround created out of best brains in execution is required to be established, to actually Make IT Happen. Satyen Gupta

VoLTE for sure ..: The right voice option for RJIL is to use VoLTE, but then the question is when and primarily due to the spectrum for quite some good coverage aspects ... With tier B and C and D cities and towns, and a lot of rural areas, and quite some indoor in Metros and top cities - a pretty good frequency in the band below 1GHz is required. Devices and the ecosystem are something that Reliance can muster up, but RF is how it is .. !! What with facebook and WhatsApp coming up with their own OTT calling capabilities, VoLTE equips RJIL with the spears and shields ...

RJio’s LTE Spectrum Position No More Unmatched
The Comms Tech

RJIo's LTE Spectrum position no more unmatched: It is not simply availability of spectrum or availability of fiber .It is that how they are leveraged. On top of all it is the time to market the product-content,the quality of service("99999" availability & a very good BER ,good traffic engineering absolutely avoiding the traffic congestion & latency)affordability of the service by "Aam Admi".So far all private TELCOs were providing better quality of Sevice at a lower tariff to all corporates solely due to the great bargaining power inherent in them while dishing out comparatively poor service to individual customers.Likewise one can easily notice the poor quality service dished out to rural brethern in comparision to customers who are in metros & mini-metros.The monitoring cell of DoT is not cracking the whip .Even if it does TV & print media unnecessarily try to take private telcos side for the fines levied. In the last 15 to 20 years,it is seen that private Telcos under report revenue earned, misrepresent customer base (when that was the basis for allotment additional spectrum),Reporting all international calls terminating as calls terminating within the county there by not making payment due towards access deficit charges, not covering the rural areas as pe liecense condition, besides keeping mTTRs for anmy fault occuring rural area interminably high & also charging post paid customers for the services & facility not requeted for.Sincerity & willingness to improve the telecom service should be the motto of Service providers.Alas that is sadly missing.Business models of most of the service providers are far away from reality mostly done by MBAs from reputed institutions with no real telecom exposure & last but not least the lack of courage to tell the truth to the top management-viz never bringing to light the stark reality of the status network namely poor availability, the capacity expansion required to address traffic congestion & latency and lastly the minimum CAPEX required to induct equipments with the state of the art technology,to upgrade the infrastructure -oF Cables,Battery,Engine alternator & the OPEX requirement to keep the MTTR down.Since the O & M of almost all service providers are outsourced as manaaged services, there is precious little done on this score. The sordid story would continue & the customers soon would face the music. So there is nothing to rejoice or worry about as the rot has already set in. Regards,M.Viswanathan,Telecom Expert,9322211009,022 25555720.
