Government of India, Idea Cellular Ltd. and Axiata Group Berhad are today's top newsmakers:

The Malaysian-conglomerate Axiata Group, which holds 20-percent stake in Idea Cellular, has threatened to claim damages and sue the government under Bilateral Investment Protection Acts (BIPA), reports The Economic Times. The Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) rejected the telecom department's suggestion that reserve price in the 800-MHz band for CDMA players be twice as that of airwaves in the 1800-MHz band, reports Economic Times.

The Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) on telecom will be meeting tomorrow to discuss the one-time spectrum fee proposed by the Department of Telecommunications to be levied on incumbent operators, reports Business Standard.
