The telecom operator Telenor ASA, and the Government of India are the leading newsmakers today:

The telecom CEOs in a meeting with Kapil Sibal, Minister for Communications and IT have warned of a more-than-100-percent rise in the tariffs if TRAIs proposals are approved by the ministry, reports Financial Express. The discontinuing of the India operations by the Norwegian operator Telenor could lead to Viom Networks, a JV between Tata and SREI losing one-fourth of its rental earnings, reports Economic Times. The government has withdrawn its petition for a review of the 2G verdict by the Supreme Court and is now relying on presidential preference for the verdicts reconsideration, reports The Times of India.
