Bharti Infratel, a leading telecom passive infrastructure provider managed to save over INR 28 million (US $0.56 million) by introducing the SMART-IT initiative with the help of IBM Corp.
By adopting data tracking and analytics solution from IBM, the company managed to monitor its 33,000-plus tower sites spanning across 11 telecom circles in India, resulting in significant business benefits.
The project was started in 2009 when this subsidiary of Bharti Airtel Ltd. was facing challenges which included limited access and visibility of tower sites and assets.
