In a first of its kind deal in India, Nokia Siemens Networks has implemented a unified billing and charging solution for Vodafone India.
The deal focuses on Vodafone India'd data services: NSN will build and operate the operator's data charging system, integrating prepaid systems and other elements in a multi-vendor environment, says the press note. NSN will also provide its NetAct network management system to help Vodafone efficiently monitor, manage and optimize its network.
"As a whole new generation of subscribers uses mobile data services more frequently, our aim is to better understand data consumption patterns and accordingly offer truly customized data tariffs," says Vishant Vora, Chief Technology Officer at Vodafone India.
This engagement is different from most converged billing deployments as it does not include voice.
For all its billing and charging solutions, Vodafone India works with Comverse Inc. and Ericsson AB as well as NSN.
Hopefully, this solution will help resolve the billing issues Vodafone India has been experiencing.
