Competition: I am not sure how many of the vendors were present at the IMS World Forum 2013 in Barcelona with their IMS platform and who were the competitors against which this award was won. Can someone also enlightens on the same? If someone can add the information in the article, then it will be easy for us to understand the real winner. Rgds/Parveen

The two ailing corporations need working together to get out of the mess!: There is a serious temptation to appoint another "committee" by the Govt for suggesting the modality.Since the early 80s the resructuring had happened many times without any result. These corps have acquired "too big to fail" status and draining Common man/ taxpayers money.High time they stopped it and evolve mutually beneficial plan. Growth of a T&M vendor is always driven by innovation and operating excellence!: Newer technology deployment, newer platforms for manufacturing test and newer portables for routine field service is key to the constant revenue streams of a T&M vendor. As the pipeline of product/marketing innovations shrinks, the revenues suffer. So,one has to focus on both market share as well as customer share.Vishnu GoelT&M +919810101238

you can't take a horse to water & make it drink: BSNL is perceived to be a cheap service. It is sad that it is good in parts but very bad in most parts by way of poor customer service & quality. Basically tariffs are all the same, and a customer with choice would prefer someone with better products and quality of service. While BSNL used to be better by way of broadband, even this is being negated by new providers with better bandwidth, lower prices and far better service. Recently I signed up for Broadband service with BSNL Chennai, and had to give up in just six weeks because of poor quality of service and non-existent customer service. As long as the MTNL and BSNL people (top to bottom) think of themselves as Government Servants, superior to the customers, they are doomed. They have been propped up by Govt. largesse, and the compulsion of public sector/Government patronage. Remove this, and they cannot exist. The present setup cannot effectively compete in a free environment. It is time that the Wise Men of Government realised this.
kadambi onCan BSNL-MTNL Change Their Fortunes?
Fortunes change with attitudes: Subscribers pay for services. When that is non-existent, then cheap prices don't matter. I am an early adopter of BSNL's FTTH services, but that is down most of the time! It's time BSNL realised that Internet access is not a "good to have add-on" but an "essential service" and change their attitude to serving its customer's better. It's fortunes are in its own hands - it almost seems to an employment agency for the incompetent.

Long way to go: Though Nokia has launched affordable Lumia handsets it still lags the competitive landscape. Lowest price Lumia sells at more than twice the price of lowest priced Android. Sure there are hardware differences between the devices but they are not significant enough for a price concious customer to shell out the extra buck. Good thing for Nokia is that it has hit the bottom. However, journey up is going to be more intense.

Much needed: Indian telcos are operating at lowest tariff levels across the world. Tariff hike is necessary to maintain profitability and increase investments in the network. In the light of disappointing results from Airtel, I will not be surprised to see remaining incumbents joining the suite.
